Kanha Tiger Reserve Organizes Six-Day Rest Camp for 16 Working Elephants

Kanha Tiger Reserve management will conduct an Elephant Rejuvenation Camp from September 15-20 to provide rest and care to 16 elephants deployed in patrolling and other duties throughout the year. The camp will be inaugurated at Supkar circle.
During the camp, elephants will receive daily baths, massage with neem oil, nail trimming, and health checkups including blood samples. They will be provided with nutritious food including sugarcane, banana, mango, coconut, vitamins and minerals. Forest officials stated the camp aims to provide physical rest and maintain the animals' mental well-being.
Kanha Tiger Reserve has a long history with elephants, which were earlier used for log transportation and are now deployed in tourism and other activities. The camp will also assess work suitability based on each elephant's age.
