Karnataka SIR: Adult family members now allowed at hearings for elderly, disabled, sick voters
Karnataka's election commission has expanded participation rules for Summary Inquiry Report (SIR) hearings. Adult family members can now attend proceedings on behalf of senior citizens, persons with disabilities, sick individuals, and overseas electors.
Previously, only the person against whom a notice was issued could attend such hearings. The new directive aims to facilitate easier access to the electoral dispute resolution process for voters facing mobility or health constraints.
