Kerala HC Orders Bar Council to Track Advocates Who Haven't Cleared AIBE Since 2021

The Kerala High Court has directed the Bar Council of Kerala to update and maintain a list of advocates who have not qualified the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) since 2021, to be completed within eight weeks. The Division Bench of Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Syam Kumar V.M. issued the order while hearing a public interest litigation on the issue.
The Court instructed the Bar Council to continue reviewing AIBE qualification defaults, publish names of advocates who subsequently qualify, and ensure the District Judiciary is informed through prescribed procedures. The order noted the need for ongoing oversight to prevent similar lapses in the future.
The PIL proceedings had revealed complaints, RTI responses, and correspondence related to advocates who failed the exam since July 2010. The Court's directions apply specifically to cases arising after 2021.
