Kerala on alert for Nipah virus from April to September

Kerala has been placed on alert for Nipah virus during the April-to-September period, based on patterns from previous outbreaks and spillover cases in the state. Health officials have identified Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, and Thrissur districts as areas of focus during this six-month window.
The alert comes as evidence suggests the virus remains active in the state during these months. Authorities are preparing containment measures and heightened surveillance in the identified districts to monitor and respond to potential cases.
