Kerala power utility seeks approval to procure additional electricity at higher rates

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has sought approval to purchase additional power at elevated rates as the state grapples with an electricity crisis. The move comes as demand for power continues to outpace supply in Kerala.
Officials indicated that the additional procurement is necessary to meet the state's growing power requirements and prevent further shortfalls. The proposal requires government authorization before the utility can proceed with the higher-cost purchases.
