Women riders surge to 64% on Kerala state buses after free scheme launch

Women now account for 64% of passengers on Kerala State Road Transport Corporation's ordinary buses, a significant rise from 50% before the Priyadarshini free ride scheme was introduced.
The state-run scheme, designed to provide free travel for women, has boosted female participation in public transport. The increase reflects improved accessibility and affordability for women commuters across Kerala's transport network.
