Kerala Youngsters Caught on Video Using Live Python as Jump Rope
A disturbing video reportedly filmed in Ernakulam, Kerala, has emerged on social media showing four youngsters mishandling a live Indian rock python. In the footage, two are seen holding and swinging the protected wild animal while a third appears to jump over it in a jump-rope-like game. The video was shared by the Instagram account Street Dog of Bombay, drawing widespread attention to the incident.
The social media page responded by emphasising that wild animals should not be treated as toys or entertainment sources, and stressed their right to safety and natural habitats. It tagged the Kerala Forest Department, calling for an investigation into the incident and action under applicable wildlife laws. The page also urged greater awareness among young people about respecting wildlife and coexisting with animals responsibly rather than exploiting them for amusement.
The incident has reignited concerns over the importance of responsible wildlife handling and protection of animals from potential harm in Kerala.
