Karen Khachanov Advances to US Open Quarterfinals with Comeback Win

Karen Khachanov produced an impressive comeback at the 2026 US Open, defeating 14th seed Learner Tien 7-5, 4-6, 6-7(6), 6-1, 6-4 in the fourth round. The unseeded Russian battled back from two sets down in a match lasting nearly four hours, securing his place in the quarterfinals.
After the victory, Khachanov entertained reporters with a lighthearted exchange when asked about facing younger opponents. When asked if he enjoyed "showing youngsters who's boss," the 30-year-old Russian pushed back humorously, saying he was young as well and jokingly questioned whether he should shave to appear less mature.
Khachanov will next face 21-year-old Alexander Blockx in the quarterfinals. Blockx advanced by defeating Francisco Cerundolo to reach his first Grand Slam quarterfinal.
