Little Big Dreams: Documentary on Differently Abled Girl from Ladakh Showcased at MIFF

Little Big Dreams, screening at the 19th Mumbai International Film Festival, tells the story of a differently abled girl from Ladakh pursuing her dreams with her donkey companion. The 19-minute documentary explores three underrepresented themes in cinema: stories from Ladakh, differently abled children, and the donkey.
Producer Shweta Parakh highlighted that Ladakhi children lack access to basic amenities and experiences like art supplies. She also noted the film challenges negative perceptions of donkeys and sheds light on how army use of donkeys provides financial support to local families. The documentary was previously screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Filmmaker Pathik Vats, known for writing Sarfarosh (1999), expressed gratitude to the NFDC for ensuring the small Ladakhi film received a platform at MIFF.
