Madhya Pradesh faces 29% rainfall deficit in June; 35 districts affected

Madhya Pradesh has received significantly below-normal rainfall in June, with the state recording only 22.7 mm of precipitation between June 1-15 against the normal average of 31.9 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department. Thirty-five districts, including major cities like Indore, Jabalpur and Ujjain, have reported rainfall deficits.
Most rainfall recorded so far has been attributed to pre-monsoon activity. The southwest monsoon is expected to enter the state around June 18-19, which weather experts believe will improve rainfall figures. Thunderstorms, rain and gusty winds are forecast in more than 30 districts on Tuesday due to ongoing pre-monsoon conditions.
