Madhya Pradesh hikes MBBS intern stipend 50% after protest; probe into police action ordered

The Madhya Pradesh government has increased MBBS intern stipends by 50% following protests by medical students that disrupted healthcare services across the state. The decision comes after interns staged demonstrations on Monday, September 7, demanding better remuneration.
The government has also ordered an administrative investigation into the deployment of water cannons and the use of what officials described as "disproportionate force" during the protest action. The inquiry aims to examine the police response to the student agitation.
