Madhya Pradesh to Launch Stargazing Project to Attract Tourists

The Madhya Pradesh government plans to launch a Stargazing Project to promote astro-tourism across the state. Six villages with minimal light pollution have been identified: Richkudi in Damoh, Gyanpura in Dhar, Dhusawani in Chhindwara, Bancha in Betul, Dhab in Narmadapuram, and Rancha in Umaria.
Each village will receive Rs 1 crore investment covering training, equipment, and promotion. The nine-month training programme will be conducted in phases, with platforms constructed near homestays and telescopes installed. Selected youth from these villages will be trained to guide tourists seasonally. The project is expected to commence after the monsoon season, with two Gujarat-based companies engaged for technical support.
