Monsoon Expected in Madhya Pradesh Between June 21-23; Kharif Sowing Delayed

The India Meteorological Department forecasts the monsoon will arrive in Madhya Pradesh between June 21 and 23, about a week behind schedule. The system is currently stalled over Bhadrachalam in Telangana, also delaying entry into Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
The delayed monsoon has affected Kharif crop sowing across the state. Agriculture officials advise farmers to await adequate rainfall, noting that crops like soybean, urad, moong, and tur require around 100 mm of rain for proper sowing. From June 1-16, the state received 35% below-normal rainfall, with eastern districts hit harder.
Pre-monsoon activity continued Tuesday, with Sidhi recording the highest rainfall at about 1 inch. Temperatures dropped due to rain and wind activity across multiple districts. The IMD has issued rain and storm alerts for 34 districts on Wednesday.
