Madhya Pradesh Set To Emerge As Major Nuclear Power Hub

Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a major nuclear power hub in the country, with projects totalling 7,000 MW currently in progress. The state has formed a high-power committee to coordinate and expedite nuclear energy investments in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's SHANTI Act, 2025, which allows private sector participation in nuclear power development.
The Centre has set a target of 100 GW of nuclear power by 2047. Madhya Pradesh has identified nuclear power projects with a planned capacity of approximately 7,000 MW, with additional private-sector proposals under preliminary consideration. Officials noted that no other state has adopted a similar coordination mechanism for attracting nuclear projects.
