Madhya Pradesh Patwari Faces Uproar After Riding on Elderly Man's Shoulders to Cross Stream
A viral video from Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh has drawn sharp criticism after showing a patwari allegedly riding on an elderly man's shoulders to cross a stream. The incident involved Patwari Nilesh Namdev and a 65-year-old identified as Lalba Kewat. According to villagers, the patwari used this method to keep his shoes and clothes dry while crossing the water at Mata Gram Panchayat.
The video sparked widespread anger among residents, who condemned the act as disrespectful and humiliating. Villagers compared the behaviour to practices from the British colonial era, stating the patwari treated the elderly man "like a horse." The incident has prompted villagers to lodge complaints with the Sidhi Collector and demand action against the official.
