Madhya Pradesh Revives Direct Recruitment of Outstanding Athletes in Police

The Madhya Pradesh government has revived direct recruitment of outstanding sportspersons into the police department, resuming a policy last active in 2021. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav initiated the decision to amend the Madhya Pradesh Police (Appointment of Excellent Players) Rules 2021.
Under the revised framework, 60 positions will be filled annually—10 for Sub-Inspectors and 50 for Constables. Olympic Games, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games participants, along with medal holders, are eligible. Selected sportspersons receive complete relaxation in educational and physical height requirements, with exemptions from written examinations and physical eligibility tests.
The Selection and Recruitment Branch of police headquarters will handle recruitment, recognising only sports disciplines featured in the last three Olympic editions. Appointments will be made under the unreserved general category.
