Madhya Pradesh Teachers Who Cleared TET May Have To Retake Exam In October

Teachers in Madhya Pradesh who have already cleared the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) may now be required to retake the examination in October. The state government had sought exemption from the Supreme Court for serving teachers, but no relief has been granted so far. The state has begun preparations for a fresh TET examination.
More than 75,000 teachers had already appeared for TET between 2005 and 2008. The Primary School Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) 2020 was conducted earlier and served as the basis for teacher selection. Teachers who qualified in earlier examinations are now questioning why they must appear again despite already serving in schools.
Following the Supreme Court's TET ruling, the School Education Department approached the court again in July seeking intervention on behalf of teachers who had already taken the exam. The core issue remains whether earlier TET qualifications will be recognised under the latest Supreme Court directions, according to teachers' association representatives.
