Madhya Pradesh leads in paddy residue burning; cases fall in Haryana and UP

Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the state with the most paddy residue burning incidents this season, even as the problem shows signs of easing in neighbouring Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
Stubble burning is closely tied to the paddy harvesting cycle and fluctuates year-on-year based on transplanting schedules and prevailing weather patterns in each region. These factors influence both the timing and intensity of such incidents across agricultural areas.
The variation in residue burning cases across states reflects how local farming practices and seasonal conditions shape the agricultural cycle. While some states grapple with persistent stubble management challenges, others have seen improved outcomes in curbing these practices, which contribute to air quality concerns during winter months.
