Over 71% of deleted voter names fall under 'absent, shifted or others' category
Over 71 per cent of the names deleted during the Summary Inclusion and Removal (SIR) process fall under the 'absent, shifted or others' category. Among the 9.5 crore deletions recorded so far, a significant portion relates to voters who may have relocated or become temporarily absent from their registered addresses.
Authorities indicate that many of these deleted entries could potentially be reinstated in electoral rolls once the SIR process concludes. The category encompasses cases where voters have shifted residence, are temporarily absent, or fall under other similar circumstances that warranted removal during the routine electoral roll cleanup.
