MCD unable to locate building plans for 70% of Delhi PGs, tells High Court

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has informed the Delhi High Court that it is unable to locate building plans for approximately 70% of the 2,453 paying guest (PG) accommodations registered with it. This admission raises concerns about regulatory oversight and safety compliance across the private rental accommodation sector in the capital.
The MCD's disclosure suggests significant gaps in documentation and record-keeping for residential properties that house a large number of students and working professionals. The inability to trace building plans complicates the corporation's ability to ensure these facilities meet prescribed safety and construction standards.
The matter has drawn High Court attention, highlighting questions about compliance verification and the regulatory framework governing unorganized rental housing in Delhi.
