Ministry to Review Elite Athletes' Below-Par Asian Games Performance Under TOPS

The Ministry has summoned federation officials this week to review the below-par performance of elite athletes competing under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) at the Asian Games.
The review aims to assess the outcomes of athletes who received financial support and training assistance through the TOPS initiative. Federation officials are expected to present their analysis and discuss factors that may have contributed to the underperformance.
TOPS, a government flagship programme, provides grants and support to promising athletes with potential to win medals at international competitions. The performance review signals the government's focus on accountability and identifying areas for improvement in athlete development and support mechanisms.
