Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub on Emmy Nod for Real Kashmir FC, Working with Nana Patekar

Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, known for films like Shahid and Raanjhanaa, has emerged as part of critically acclaimed projects in recent years. His involvement in the Real Kashmir Football Club series, which received an Emmy nomination, marks a significant milestone in his career. In an exclusive interview, Ayyub spoke about his initial reluctance to take on the project, fearing it would rely on clichéd portrayals of Kashmir.
When casting director Mukesh Chhabra first approached him for the show, Ayyub was shooting in Liverpool. He admitted he was initially hesitant, expecting the series would either focus on geographical beauty or violence. However, after learning more about the project and discussing it with producers and creators, he realised they shared a common vision: to tell a story centred on hope, youth, and the future, avoiding Kashmir stereotypes.
Ayyub found out about the Emmy nomination in an unusual manner—while on a flight to Mumbai. He began receiving congratulatory messages shortly after landing, with journalists reaching out for his reaction. Beyond Real Kashmir FC, Ayyub is also part of web series Hunkaar and the upcoming film Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor. During the interview, he also discussed his experience working with veteran actor Nana Patekar.
