MP Board Second Exam Results Reveal Stark Learning Gaps

The Madhya Pradesh Board's second examination results have exposed significant learning gaps among students. Despite a second chance to clear or improve marks, over half the Class 10 and Class 12 candidates failed, with pass rates of only 40.47% and 59.57% respectively.
Education experts attribute the poor performance to delayed intervention by schools. National award-winning teacher Madhav Patel noted that remedial classes are often conducted too close to final examinations, leaving insufficient time for students to address learning deficiencies. He stressed the need to identify struggling students early through quarterly exams and begin intensive support immediately.
Other challenges include teachers being assigned non-academic duties during critical periods and irregular student attendance in special coaching sessions, making it difficult to support out-of-school learners.
