One nation needs one law, says MP CM Mohan Yadav, backs UCC

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday renewed calls for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), arguing that a nation with "one nation, one legislation and one leader" should have a single law rather than separate legal frameworks. He said concepts like unity in diversity and harmony among religions cannot remain merely words and must be implemented on the ground in reality.
Yadav highlighted that Madhya Pradesh had already passed UCC legislation with the objective of ensuring legal consistency and equality across the nation. He stated that a unified legal framework would address the current situation where personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption and succession are governed by different religious laws and customs in India.
