M.P. High Court issues notice on plea seeking closure of Ladli Behna scheme

A plea filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court has sought closure of the Ladli Behna scheme, citing concerns over its financial sustainability and effectiveness. The petitioner, Sudha Dubey, argues that the monthly stipend of ₹1,500 is inadequate for household expenses and questions whether the scheme creates genuine long-term financial opportunities for women beneficiaries.
The court has issued a notice to the state government seeking its response to the petition. The Ladli Behna scheme, a flagship welfare programme of the Madhya Pradesh government, provides monthly cash transfers to eligible women across the state.
