3.5 Lakh MP Students Face Scholarship Delays Over Bank Account Errors

Around 3.5 lakh school students in Madhya Pradesh have been waiting nearly two years for their scholarships due to errors in bank account details. The affected students include 2.66 lakh from government schools and approximately 77,000 from private schools under the Right to Education Act, primarily from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories for 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic sessions.
The School Education Department has directed officials to update students' bank information, but the process faces hurdles as many parents must visit banks in person during working hours. Some parents live outside their districts, making corrections difficult.
Scholarships range from Rs 250 annually for SC girls in Classes 1-5 to Rs 1,200 annually for SC students in Classes 9-10. Class 11-12 students receive Rs 230 monthly for day scholars and Rs 380 for hostel residents.
