MP Government Teachers Boycott TET, Threaten School Shutdown

Government teachers across Madhya Pradesh have announced a boycott of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), refusing to fill examination forms and threatening a complete shutdown of schools if their demand for exemption is not met. The protesting teachers plan to send one lakh emails daily to government officials, including the school education minister, Governor, Prime Minister and President, until September 26.
Teachers' Association state president Jagish Yadav said the recruitment system in Madhya Pradesh differs from other states, and teachers had already appeared in examinations during their recruitment. He contested the government's claim that the offline exam assesses quality, saying teachers would not participate in the test.
The teachers have announced an indefinite protest starting September 27, with division-wise sit-ins planned in Bhopal and a fast on October 2. They warned that if demands are not accepted, they will escalate to a complete school shutdown followed by street agitation. So far, over 20,000 TET forms have been filled, with only 5% from government teachers.
