Madhya Pradesh Teachers' Day marred by widespread discontent over jobs and policies

Bhopal: Teachers' Day in Madhya Pradesh is overshadowed by discontent among nearly two lakh educators. Around one lakh guest teachers are demanding regularisation of their service, citing years of work without permanent status or job security. They seek a clear policy for service continuity and recognition of teaching experience.
Simultaneously, over one lakh serving teachers are opposing mandatory TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) requirements, demanding exemption for those with substantial prior teaching experience. State teachers association president Jagdish Yadav said teachers have staged protests across districts and even demonstrated in Delhi over the issue.
Guest Teachers state president Sunil Singh Parihar noted nearly one lakh guest teachers—70,000 from school education and 30,000 from tribal department—remain angry. According to UDISE+, Madhya Pradesh has 3,99,970 permanent government school teachers.
