Tumour Boards To Be Set Up At New Government Medical Colleges In Madhya Pradesh

Tumour boards will soon be constituted at government medical colleges in Ratlam, Datia, Khandwa, Singrauli and Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh. These multidisciplinary boards bring together medical, surgical and radiation specialists to review complex cancer cases and design individualised treatment plans.
Gandhi Medical College (GMC) Bhopal has initiated the move to establish Cancer Multidisciplinary Tumour Boards across other government medical colleges in the state. GMC constituted its own board in August 2024. Senior oncologists emphasise that tumour boards are essential in newly opened medical colleges to ensure comprehensive cancer care and appropriate decision-making based on patient diagnosis and cancer stage.
Currently, tumour boards exist in the five older government medical colleges—Bhopal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Gwalior and Indore. The expansion aims to standardise cancer care across the state's medical institutions.
