Mumbai faces rising sea threat; BMC initiates fresh risk assessment

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has launched a fresh assessment of the risks posed by rising sea levels and coastal erosion to Mumbai. The civic body is conducting a comprehensive evaluation to gauge the extent of threat to the city's infrastructure and settlements.
The move comes as climate change and environmental degradation intensify vulnerability to flooding and coastal hazards in the metropolis. The BMC's initiative aims to identify at-risk zones and inform future mitigation and adaptation strategies.
