Concerned Naga Forum urges Centre to deliver political solution

The Concerned Naga Forum, Nagaland (CNFN) at its 7th general body meeting on September 21 emphasized the need for clarity and transparency on the Naga political issue. The forum stressed that the Naga national movement is a people's movement and no single organisation or individual can claim exclusive authority over it.
CNFN noted that the 2015 Framework Agreement and 2017 Agreed Position reflected endorsement by parties and people for political negotiations. It stated that such endorsement does not amount to surrender of Naga aspirations and that the people would make the final decision. The forum reiterated that territorial integration of contiguous Naga-inhabited areas is no longer on the agenda and existing state boundaries should remain unchanged.
On residents' identification, CNFN called for a state-wide Registration of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) as a unique identity system. It urged the state government to fulfil Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's pledge to facilitate an honourable and inclusive Naga political solution.
