Nagaland PSC flags exam centre and staff shortages to governor

Nagaland Public Service Commission officials apprised Governor Nand Kishore Yadav of mounting challenges during a review meeting on Tuesday. The commission faces a critical shortage of suitable examination centres and inadequate manpower as the number of candidates sitting for recruitment tests continues to rise.
During 2025-26, NPSC conducted examinations across multiple services including Nagaland Civil Services, Engineering Services, Medical Services and Technical Services. The NCS & Allied Services Examination alone received 16,433 applications, while the NCS & NPS & Allied Services Examination attracted 5,813 applications. The departmental promotion committee cleared 444 cases between April and August 2026—163 promotion cases and 281 regularisation cases.
Despite resource constraints, NPSC has undertaken initiatives to strengthen processes, including revised syllabi and examination patterns with emphasis on analytical ability and general awareness. The commission also received a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for integrating its recruitment portals with DigiLocker, making Nagaland the first state to do so.
