Narender wins bronze in heavyweight boxing; Parveen, Ankush reach finals at Asian Games

India's Narender Berwal secured a bronze medal in the men's +90kg boxing event at the Asian Games 2026 after losing to Kazakhstan's Aibek Oralbay in the semifinal at the Nishio Gymnasium on Tuesday. Oralbay dominated the contest from the first bell, never allowing his Indian opponent an opening, eventually winning by an unanimous decision with a 5-0 scorecard.
The 31-year-old Narender had demonstrated strong form earlier in the tournament, defeating Thailand's Adthapong Saengtep in the quarterfinal with a first-round RSC (Referee Stops Contest) victory. His Asian Games bronze adds to his recent success, having won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow earlier this year.
On the women's side, India's boxing contingent continued its strong showing as Parveen Hooda and Ankush Panghal both advanced to the finals in their respective categories, keeping India's medal hopes alive in the boxing competition at the Games.
