Nepalese nationals added to Goa voter rolls, alleges GFP chief

The chief of Goa Forward Party has alleged that Nepalese nationals have been irregularly added to the state's voter rolls. The claim centres on irregularities in the voter registration process, with the party leader citing what he describes as flaws in the Single Integrated Reporting (SIR) system used for maintaining electoral records.
The GFP chief has demanded a formal investigation into the matter, raising concerns about the integrity of Goa's electoral register. Such allegations of non-citizens appearing on voter lists strike at the credibility of the electoral process in the state.
The accusations, if substantiated, would represent a serious breach of electoral norms, as only Indian citizens are eligible to be registered as voters. The demand for a probe reflects concerns within Goa's political circles about the electoral roll's accuracy and administrative oversight.
