Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, officially began commercial operations on Monday. IndiGo airline operated the first flight, arriving from Lucknow and later departing for Bengaluru. The airport was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, becoming the second international airport serving the Delhi-NCR region.
Initially, the airport will focus on domestic routes before introducing international flights in coming months. In June, flights will operate to cities including Lucknow, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Jammu, and Navi Mumbai. From July 1, the network will expand to include Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Jaipur, Kishangarh, Bareilly, Dehradun, Bhopal, Jodhpur and others.
Currently, IndiGo and Akasa Air have confirmed operations from the airport. Akasa Air is scheduled to begin flights the day after IndiGo's launch, with additional carriers expected to join as operations scale up.
