North Tripura presents water conservation initiatives at India International Water Week

North Tripura district presented its water conservation efforts at the 9th India International Water Week 2026, with District Magistrate Chandni Chandran speaking at the Practitioners' Forum on Best Practices. The district highlighted three key initiatives: the Uttar Jal Sanchay Yatra, a district-level water conservation programme; rainwater harvesting saturation in Vanghmun for community-based management; and springshed management in Jampui and Damcherra blocks with support from CML and Tata Trusts.
Chandran emphasised that sustained water conservation requires ongoing cooperation among government institutions, local communities and private-sector partners. The initiatives demonstrate a convergence-based approach, combining government programmes with community ownership and private-sector engagement to strengthen water management practices.
