Over half of Odisha's rural works lack photographic evidence, audit finds

A draft audit report has flagged inadequate photographic documentation in Odisha's rural development works. The audit analysed 25,038 works executed between 2019 and 2026, revealing that 13,083 projects—representing 52.25% of the total—had no accompanying photographs.
The absence of photographic evidence raises questions about project oversight and accountability in the state's rural infrastructure implementation. Proper documentation is typically required for verification and monitoring of public works projects.
