Over 91% electors mapped, but more than one crore deleted from draft rolls
More than one crore electors have been deleted from draft voter rolls even as block-level officials (BLOs) reported over 91% coverage of the mapping exercise. Officials clarified that the 91% figure represents the geographical scope of the mapping drive, not the success rate of the registration process itself.
The deletions have raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process. BLOs defended the deletions, attributing them to errors in the original rolls and duplicate or ineligible entries identified during the verification exercise.
