Parsva Ekadashi 2026: Date, Muhurat and Significance

Parsva Ekadashi is a significant Hindu fasting day dedicated to Lord Vishnu, observed on the 11th lunar day of the bright fortnight in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada (August–September). The word Parsva means "side", referring to the belief that Lord Vishnu shifts his sleeping position during his four-month cosmic slumber known as Chaturmas. The day is also called Parivartini Ekadashi or Vamana Ekadashi.
This year, Parsva Ekadashi falls on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. According to Drik Panchang, the Ekadashi Tithi begins at 11:30 PM on September 21 and ends at 1:13 AM on September 23. The Parana (breaking of fast) time is from 7:30 AM to 7:55 AM on September 23.
The observance commemorates Lord Vamana, the dwarf incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and his encounter with the demon King Mahabali. Devotees observe this Ekadashi to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu during the sacred Chaturmas period.
