Parvati Project-Affected Farmers Launch Stir Over Compensation in Rajgarh

Farmers in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh, launched an agitation on Tuesday over compensation issues related to the Parvati River irrigation project in the Suthaliya area. The protesters alleged the government had failed to adequately compensate those whose lands and homes would be submerged by the project.
The farmers placed nine demands before the administration, seeking compensation for lost farmlands, houses, tube wells, wells, trees, crops, and irrigation pipelines. They announced they would undertake a fast unto death until their demands are met. Social worker Medha Patkar visited the protest site and pressed the administration to address the farmers' concerns. The district collector assured Patkar of looking into the matter.
