Patwaris, Tehsildars Block Swamitva Registry Implementation in Madhya Pradesh

Patwaris and tehsildars in Madhya Pradesh have stalled the Swamitva Yojana implementation, refusing to conduct property registries under the scheme until their concerns are addressed. Patwari Association president Upendra Baghel said the government has provided only verbal assurances with no written commitments. No registries have been completed across the state's 55 districts since the scheme's rollout five days ago.
Both groups object to being made executors or registry officers under the scheme, fearing legal liability if property disputes arise. They demand the government use its dedicated registry department instead. The Tehsildar Association has also withheld participation pending government response to their demands.
CM Mohan Yadav held a closed-door meeting with revenue officials Wednesday, rebuking Principal Secretary E Rameshkumar for failing to resolve the deadlock. He directed the department to address staff apprehensions and enable smooth scheme implementation.
