Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal meets US corporate leaders to promote India investment
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has invited American manufacturers to expand their presence in India, emphasizing that economic ties between the two countries are increasingly extending beyond traditional trade to encompass investment, manufacturing, technology, innovation, and resilient supply chains. Speaking at a business roundtable convened by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) in Milwaukee, Goyal highlighted the momentum in India-US economic ties, along with India's expanding industrial base and skilled workforce. The NAM represents a substantial share of leading American manufacturing companies, contributing significantly to the US manufacturing GDP of around $3 trillion.
During the roundtable, Goyal interacted with CEOs and senior executives of prominent American manufacturing and technology companies. He emphasized that the India-US economic relationship is moving beyond traditional trade and increasingly encompasses investment, manufacturing, technology, innovation, resilient supply chains, and the creation of high-value capabilities in both countries. The commerce and industry ministry stated that CEOs and senior executives shared their views on opportunities emerging in India and their companies' perspectives on expanding partnerships. Goyal assured that the government is ready to facilitate companies' operations, expansion, and investments in India.
Goyal is visiting the US from September 29 to October 5 to attend the G20 trade ministers' meeting and hold deliberations with US trade representative Jamieson Greer on the proposed bilateral trade agreement. These discussions are part of ongoing efforts to advance a balanced and mutually beneficial India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement and finalize an interim deal in line with the joint statement of February 7, 2026. Goyal also attended a reception hosted by the Business Roundtable and NAM at Rockwell Automation's global headquarters.
