Punjab HC asks Chief Secretary why criminal contempt proceedings shouldn't begin

Punjab's Chief Secretary KAP Sinha has been issued a contempt notice by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court is examining his statements regarding the resolution of dearness allowance (DA) issues related to the state's appeal pending in the Supreme Court.
The High Court previously directed the state government to settle overdue dearness allowance for both employees and pensioners. The Chief Secretary has been asked to explain why criminal contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for allegedly providing misleading information to the court.
