Small taxpayers to get quarterly payment option under new scheme

The government is set to introduce a quarterly payment scheme for small taxpayers filing annual returns, aimed at easing their tax compliance burden. The move is expected to provide greater flexibility for small businesses managing their tax obligations.
Under the proposed scheme, notices for disputed tax amounts up to ₹10,000 will be extinguished, potentially benefiting approximately 12 lakh small businesses across the country. This relief measure is designed to reduce litigation and administrative burden on small taxpayers.
The initiative reflects efforts to simplify tax procedures and improve compliance among the small business segment, which forms a significant part of India's economy.
