Rajinikanth Wanted Tamannaah Bhatia Song in Jailer 2, Director Nelson Declined

Actor Rajinikanth has disclosed that he suggested director Nelson include a song featuring Tamannaah Bhatia in the upcoming film Jailer 2, set to release on October 15, 2026. During promotional events, Rajinikanth stated, "The only missing element in Jailer 2 is Tamannaah. I told Nelson to keep one song for Tamannaah." Nelson responded that he could not make casting decisions solely based on personal preferences.

Rajinikanth clarified his reasoning, emphasizing that his suggestion was driven by audience response rather than personal taste. He noted that maintaining relevance in cinema requires understanding and catering to audience preferences. Tamannaah appeared in a cameo role in the original Jailer (2023), performing the song Kaavaalaa, which became a major hit and garnered significant attention for her dance performance.

Jailer 2 features Rajinikanth alongside returning cast members Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Rithvik. New additions include Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and others. The film will also feature cameos by Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi, alongside returning cameos from Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff. The original Jailer collected ₹348.55 crore net domestically and ₹604.50 crore worldwide.
