Ram temple donation row: UP SIT to file charge sheet within 2 days

The Uttar Pradesh government informed the Supreme Court on Monday that the Special Investigation Team probing alleged financial irregularities in donations and offerings at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya has substantially completed its investigation. The SIT will file the charge sheet within two days, before the September 25 deadline, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.
A batch of petitions had sought court-monitored investigation into the alleged mishandling of donations received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The status report revealed that analysis of CCTV footage identified 105 incidents of theft of donations at the temple. The report also detailed how valuables received as offerings are recorded through software and stored in State Bank of India lockers.
