RBI measures boost FY27 balance of payments surplus to over $50 billion
India is expected to record a balance of payments surplus exceeding $50 billion in FY27, supported by robust foreign currency inflows through the Reserve Bank of India's FCNR(B) deposit scheme. The scheme has attracted significant foreign exchange investments aimed at bolstering external liquidity.
According to SBI Research, the current account deficit is projected to narrow to around 1 per cent of GDP. Strong forex inflows are anticipated to support rupee appreciation against the US dollar in the near term, enhancing the nation's external economic stability.
