RBI likely to raise rates by 0.25% in October policy amid inflation concerns
The Reserve Bank of India is widely expected to raise the repo rate by 25 basis points during its October policy review, according to a poll of economists and bankers. The rate increase comes as inflationary pressures mount from elevated crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions in West Asia, and global monetary tightening.
Most experts polled also anticipate a hawkish stance from the central bank, coupled with a higher inflation forecast for the fiscal year 2026-27. Analysts suggest further rate hikes may follow later in the financial year as the RBI balances growth concerns with price stability.
