Four Indore Residents Duped of Over ₹6 Lakh in Separate Cyber Fraud Cases

Four residents of Indore fell victim to separate cyber fraud schemes totalling over ₹6 lakh under Banganga police station limits. In a stock market investment fraud, one victim lost ₹1,01,000 after fraudsters posing as representatives of a Mumbai trading firm promised high returns and accessed his Demat account. Another resident lost ₹51,449 when his mobile was remotely hacked through malware, allowing thieves to drain his PhonePe account while the phone appeared offline.
In a particularly severe case, a 27-year-old woman was targeted by loan application scammers who harvested her contact and photo data. Criminals created morphed obscene images and threatened to circulate them, forcing the victim and her mother to make 71 UPI transfers totalling ₹3,07,000 before reporting to police. A fourth victim lost ₹1,47,000 in a phishing attack after clicking a fraudulent credit card limit upgrade link sent via WhatsApp.
