Rohingya Trafficking Racket: NIA Court Sentences Four Convicts to 7 Years in Prison

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court in Uttar Pradesh has convicted four members of a major trafficking racket that settled illegal Rohingya Muslims in India using fake documents.
The court has sentenced Mohammad Ismail, Azizur Rahman, Mufijur Rahman and Hafiz Shafiq to seven years of rigorous imprisonment each. A fine of Rs 40,000 each has also been imposed on all the convicts.
The investigation revealed that these offenders facilitated illegal infiltration across the India-Bangladesh border and obtained fake Aadhaar cards and passports. UP ATS investigations also found evidence of human trafficking of women and hawala transactions.
